By incorporating gua sha into your skincare routine, you can benefit from its many benefits for healthier skin.

Yes, it is highly recommended to use a treatment, such as a rich oil or cream with gua sha. Applying a care product before using gua sha not only makes it easier to slide the tool on the skin, but also avoids any irritation or tightness. In addition, this helps maximize the absorption of the active ingredients contained in the treatment by the skin, making the treatment even more effective.

The joint use of a treatment adapted to your skin type with gua sha such as our Regenerating Oil Balm can therefore significantly improve the results in terms of hydration, nutrition of the skin and effectiveness of the desired benefits.

To clean the gua sha, start by wetting it with lukewarm water and applying a little soap. Clean the tool carefully (be careful it slips), then rinse it. Dry the gua sha with a soft microfiber towel.

It is important to wash the gua sha after each use to eliminate possible bacteria and residue from care products, thus ensuring optimal hygiene similar to that obtained by washing your hands before applying a cream.

According to lithotherapy, here are some techniques to use to purify and recharge your gua sha:

Purify it first by immersing it in a bowl of water for a few hours (avoid using coarse salt) or by passing it through the smoke of white sage or Palo Santo.

To recharge it, leave it in the light of the moon overnight, ideally during a full moon. In the morning, rinse it with clean water and dry it thoroughly before using it again.

To get the most out of the benefits of gua sha on your skin, it is advisable to massage with this tool at least 2 to 3 times a week. This will allow your skin to regularly benefit from its firming and toning effects and its action on circulation.

If you are particularly enthusiastic and eager to maximize results, you can incorporate this practice into your daily routine. Frequent use of gua sha can in fact accelerate the appearance of beneficial effects on the skin.

How to use gua sha?

Here are the steps for facial massage with gua sha, to be performed ideally 3 times a week:

  1. Prepare your skin before using gua sha: apply a rich treatment such as our regenerating facial balm to your face and neck to facilitate the gliding of the gua sha and optimize the absorption of the active ingredients into your skin.
  2. Massage your face and neck with gua sha: use gentle, upward movements, from the inside to the outside of the face. Apply light pressure, without pulling the skin. Hold the gua sha tool at a 15 to 45 degree angle to the skin. Repeat each movement 3 to 5 times.
  3. Clean your gua sha: After using your gua sha, clean it with a mild soap, rinse it with clean water and dry it with a clean towel.
Tip: you can store your gua sha in the refrigerator to obtain a refreshing and decongestant effect during your next massage.
