4 tips to boost collagen production

Use quartz rose facial roller

We saw it together in another article (if you didn't read it, it's here ), collagen is essential for a firm and plump skin. From the age of thirty, it decreases and makes the skin more fragile. But don't worry, we've given you 4 totally natural tips to boost your collagen production!

- No. 1: Eat a healthy diet

We're not teaching you anything, eating well is important, and not just to keep your figure. What you eat is reflected in your skin so to facilitate the formation of collagen:

  • Choose sulphur-rich foods such as: seafood, eggs, meat and offal, legumes, cabbage, leeks, turnips, dried fruit, condiments and herbs (fresh garlic, onions, shallots, chives).
  • Choose foods rich in vitamin C. There are many of them, but here are the ones with the highest concentration: blackcurrant, goji berries, guava, red pepper (raw), lemon, kiwi, orange, etc.
  • cut down on sugars and processed products rich in carbohydrates. Almost as bad as cigarettes, sugars permanently attach themselves to collagen, the process of glycation. Weighed down by glucose, collagen becomes fragile and the skin is no longer supported. As a result, the skin is less supple, dull and dry.

- No. 2: Stay well hydrated

You don't need to learn anything here either, but we don't drink enough water. The more hydrated the skin is, the more collagen production is promoted. So hydrate from the inside out by drinking plenty of water and eating water-rich foods, but also moisturise your skin with care products rich in moisturising agents.

Choose treatments with hyaluronic acid. Did you know that it can retain more than 1000 times its weight in water? If you would like to know more about this subject, we invite you to read our article on hyaluronic acid >

- No. 3: Massage your face

Massaging the face will allow the good oxygenation of the cells which will then produce more collagen.

The face massage is to be done in the morning and evening when applying your care products. You can massage with your hands or with fine stone beauty tools You can massage with your hands or with a hand-held device to facilitate the massage and to give the skin an extra freshness. Always make movements from the inside to the outside of the face and finish by draining. We invite you to watch these two tutorials on how to properly perform a face massage with the roller and/or the gua sha:

Massaging your face also gives you a feeling of well-being and relaxation which helps reduce stress, another cause of collagen depletion. If you want to know more about the effects of stress on the skin, you can read our article on this subject >.

- No. 4: Quit smoking

"Stop smoking! You've probably heard this phrase many times before. But it's a fact, beyond the harmful effects on the body, smoking reduces collagen production and destroys elastin fibres (fibres responsible for the skin's elasticity). The result: the skin loses its suppleness and firmness, wrinkles appear, the skin is dry, the complexion is dull, etc.

If you follow these tips, your skin will return the favour and you will quickly notice it.
